1.
You’re always catchin’ me when I’m down on my luck When I’m running on E and take a turn for the worse You don’t owe me anything I had it all planned out but then you get in my head So now it’s fallin’ apart again and again You don’t owe me anything Don’t buy the hype You’ve just barely scratched the surface Take a look underneath, could you ever see what I see? Convincing you might be another exercise in futility I guess you’ll just have to trust me If I hear you talking shit about my friends You’re not my friend
2.
Transmission’s weak, it’s been ages since The operator left, abandoned post And now to you the mantle passes on Now I’m thinking back to all the moments in my past When I felt just like them (so for those whose time is critical) (Trust me I know it’s hard) It’s hard enough to make a sound when you’re drowning now But if you can, and I will do my best to lend a hand We must raise our voices louder, and drown them out No hidden motives in company we keep No secret message and only truth to speak And now to you, the choice to carry on Now I’m thinking back to all the moments in my past When I could have used a helping hand (So for those whose time is critical, we are not alone) And it would have helped just to have seen someone else Just to have heard another voice to start the chant (Trust me I know it’s hard) It’s hard enough to make a sound when you’re drowning now And I will lend a helping hand, my friend We must raise our voices louder, and drown them out Now I’m thinking back to all the moments in my past When I could have used a helping hand Try not to focus on the spite and bitterness But who am I to make demands? Because the silencers will always blame the silenced And it will never be our burden to understand
3.
Ambling through shadowed halls, Through the darkness, voices call: "Follow us to sledgehammer these walls." "Take this torch." Just beyond this cinder block, We trade these stones for molten rock, And fashion diamonds out of broken locks. "Take my hand." We'll bathe you in moonlight, Stolen from a distant sun. You'll grow beneath the night. Pay no mind to what you'll become. Here in the caverns, statues run, And scattered voices become one. Anxieties released from lungs. In this embrace, you're safe and sound. Come forth and make us proud. We're designing our own tombs. Opiates fill puncture wounds. Into this syringe, an orchid blooms. Spread crimson. :Spoken: Oh, but doubtlessly the aimless would offer unwavering faith to any promise of solidarity and sustenance in a realm permeated with solitude and starvation. But you never offered ascension. Merely a pathway down into the same dirt you have always crawled through. Serpent. And now we've got you by the throat. Breathe of this incense and learn of the unknown. The dancing slows and you watch yourself turn to stone. When you wake and when you sleep, (Belongs to me) Belongs to me.
4.
It occurred to me This disposition is a fight Between the reasons that I wake up And why I cannot sleep at night. I’m hoping not to steal A piece of you I shouldn’t take But I know that miles away in bed You’re also wide awake. I have more time than desire, And I have more time than I want. Slim chance, full steam. Same track forever away from me. I cannot pull the brakes this time, Straighten your back and walk the line. No chance, without dreams. I will never know your tragedy But you cannot hold your head and cry, Without your breath I can't catch mine. It used to work for me To tell myself I'm gonna be ok. But the truth is that I’m drowning And you don’t know what to say. I’m wondering what is real While I climb another hill. But the ocean is so far from here And time is standing still. Straighten your back.
